Are Dorms Really “a Must” For First Year Students?

We always hear that all college freshman should live in dorms. But why. Many freshman have an ok experience in dorms and others a hateful experience in them. They may not go along with their roommate or their floor mates as well that the rooms are small and lack privacy. Apartments could be a more comfortable alternative.
